    This huge phallus can be seen in the Sanctuary of Dionysos, erected about 300 BC. It is one of several monuments dedicated to Apollo by the winners of the choral competitions of the Delian festivals, emblematic of the orgiastic rites that took place during the festivities. Around the base is carved a phallic bird, symbol of the body's immortality.
